Atomic Saturnine Plops

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Stuffed with Jalapeno and Cream Cheese

Atomic Saturnine Plops, or ASPs, were inspired by ABTs (Atomic Buffalo Terds — jalapenos filled with cream cheese and a sausage wrapped in bacon) and our beloved dog Saturnine.

Saturnine was leaving us to join my grandfather’s ranch in Texas. Our big boy was going to have 60 acres to run and stretch out those long legs of his. I made these in his honor, as our friends would greatly understand. Between him jumping up, gobbling half a platter of pollo asada during a Cinco de Mayo party, and being able to clear out a room of friends in seconds after releasing his pungent odors–I think this dish fits perfectly.

Look he’s even staring at the food now.

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Thighs (you can also use breasts but I prefer thighs)
  • 2 Jalapenos cut in half and seeded
  • Cream Cheese
  • 4–8 Slices of Bacon
  • Salt, Pepper, and Seasoning of your choice to taste (I like to add Cajun seasoning)

Instructions

Flatten and season your chicken. You want your chicken to be a consistent size throughout the piece of meat. I added my seasonings on the inside piece of meat since I was smoking it. Feel free to season either side or both if you feel like it.

Stuff the jalapenos with cream cheese. You can also use seasoned cream cheese to add extra flavor.

Raw Bacon Wrapped Chicken Stuffed with Jalapeno and Cream Cheese
Wrap with one or two slices of bacon and prepare to cook!
I cooked these in my smoker for about an hour, but you can also cook them on the grill or in the oven. If you cook them in the oven you can cook them at 350 degrees for about 30-45 minutes. No matter how you cook them, make sure the internal temperature of the chicken is about 165 degrees.

Hello!

Avatar for ApronWarriorI’m Carolann and I’m obsessed with food. Seriously, I live and sleep thinking about food. I’m on a mission to create doable, real food recipes
from scratch as well as living a more natural life style. I also believe that life should be celebrated and one of the best ways to do that is around a dinner table with friends and family (+ a game for some extra bits of laughter and edge of your seat competition). If you’re new here, I invite you to check out some of my favorite recipes or my story that lead me to real food.
